Subcontracting fair: the number-one industrial fair grew in popularity in Finland

17 731 visitors and more than 1 100 exhibitors gathered at the international industrial subcontracting fair. The number of visitors is the second highest in the history of the event (2016: 18 422). The objective of the Subcontracting Fair and the AlihankintaHEAT start-up event, held at the Tampere Exhibition and Sports Centre, is to achieve strong internationalization in the coming years. New technologies, innovations, and future industry and sustainable manufacturing generated widespread interest and debate. The next Subcontracting Fair and AlihankintaHEAT will be held on 22.-24.9.2020. The theme of the event is Business from Data.

- Several discussions raised the issue of many uncertainties from several directions in the Finnish economy. However, the atmosphere at the Subcontracting Fair was rather positive. This year's theme, sustainable manufacturing, was visible throughout the event and companies have responded to the challenge of embracing sustainable manufacturing, says the Project Manager and Communications Manager of the Subcontracting Fair Tanja Järvensivu of Tampere Trade Fairs.

- Next year's theme is Business from Data, through which we highlight the importance of data in the future industry. Intelligent industry, security and productivity are highlighted as perspectives. The objective of the theme is to help manufacturing companies with the challenge of transforming large amounts of data into information that enhances their understanding of business opportunities and thus increases productivity and competitiveness, Järvensivu comments. 

According to Järvensivu, many companies in the industry are looking for solutions to the challenges outlined above, which is why the Subcontracting Fair brings together the expertise, practical examples and know-how of experts and pioneers in cooperation with various actors.

- It is a pleasure to organize the event together with our dedicated and knowledgeable partners and exhibitors. I believe that the actors are committed to the theme and we will be able to assemble rich content again next year. This year's event aimed to develop event-based services and customer experience, and based on the feedback received, the objective was successfully achieved. Successful actors were awarded at the fair

The Finnish Association of Purchasing and Logistics LOGY ry awarded Lojer Oy as the Main Supplier of the Year and Futurice Oy as the Subcontractor of the Year. The awards, presented since 1987, want to promote the competitiveness and networking of the Finnish manufacturing industry.

Tribe Tampere, in turn, awarded Telia as Finland's most start-up friendly company. This is the second time the award was given and the aim is to promote the industrialization and internationalization of the Tampere region.

Held since 1988, the Subcontracting Trade Fair showcases Finnish industry and its leading companies. A total of 17 188 industrial decision-makers and experts attended the event last year. The main partners of Tampere Trade Fairs are the Federation of Technology Industries of Finland, the Rubber Manufacturers' Association of Finland, the Finnish Plastic Industries Federation and the Finnish Association of Purchasing and Logistics LOGY ry. AlihankintaHEAT, arranged for the 4th time, is organized as a collaborative effort by Finland Events, which is the event unit of Tampere Trade Fairs, and Rapid Action Group (RAG).
